Do desktop computers battery recharge when the computer is plugged in?

Israel Lover †-pray4revival-† asked:

I know the battery is to keep the clock right, but if it is dead, will it recharge?
I have a REALLY old computer “Win 3.1″ that was remade to be learning games for young kids. It seems to still work, but the battery is dead, so we can only get into setup, and windows will not start without a boot disk, and we don’t have one for 3.1.
