IT is impacting all areas of business today and many people are finding themselves drawn to an IT career whether it is in computer support and repair or a more artistic field like web design or computer graphics or even data recovery services.

Learning computing can have some great advantages for example, individuals can learn computers networking to change careers and make $67,460 or simply gain Microsoft Office training to make their existing work more efficient. To keep abreast, everyone must have some level of computer knowledge these days.

Computer training comes in all manner of forms so if you were taking Microsoft certification this will demonstrate to employers that you have a mastery of Microsoft Office 2007 and Windows Vista. The Technology Series allows you to become a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), which showcases your ability to build, troubleshoot, debug and implement a Windows server, Microsoft .NET framework or Microsoft SQL server.

However, when contemplating a career change, local colleges offer more in-depth computer training courses like computer engineering, troubleshooting, networking and programming.

Computer training varies widely. Beginners can take basic computer classes that teach how to turn on a computer, set up passwords and customize the desktop. Students will find out how to save information on a hard drive, flash drive and CD/DVD ROM drive, as well as how to retrieve and organize their files.

More advanced training brings more opportunities, the math-science brain may prefer a career in network security or system analytics. Business-minded individuals would perhaps like to be technology trainers, system administrators or information system managers and the more artistically-inclined may want to be a graphic designer, game tester or a web developer.

Former chief inspector of schools, Jim Rose has made a number of recommendations including a new focus on speaking as well as listening skills.He also said that children should be able to begin school in the September after their fourth birthday.  The report was commissioned amongst fears that school timetables had become too ‘cluttered’ has stressed the importance of computers in schools and in internet use in particular being ingrained into the curriculum from an early age.

This focus on the importance of the use of IT and computers in schools was brought to light in early April when the new proposals were misinterpreted by many media outlets as ‘teaching Twitter in schools’.The real plans aim to educate children in several aspects of computer usage, from computer presentations to podcasting.

In his interim report, Sir Jim has suggested that there should be around six broader areas of learning as opposed to up to 14 more traditional individual subjects such as history, geography and science.

The underlying train of thought is that if ICT in schools was ignored, a generation of children not versed in all things digital could emerge.It is the opinion of some people concerned that this would be detrimental to an economy that relies heavily on the IT and digital sectors.

Teaching unions have been welcoming of the proposed changes which have been the most radical shake up of the curriculum in 20 years, but have continued to criticize the curriculums seeming overreliance on testing of children.Some MPs have also welcomed the changes provided that they weren't brought in at the expense of 'dumbing down' the curriculumm, insisting that the proposals shouldn't prioritize 'headline grabbing gimmicks' at the expense of bettering children's education.
